Join the Schaumburg Youth Jazz Orchestra Summer Intensive!

Calling all high school musicians!
Take your passion for jazz to the next level with the Schaumburg Youth Jazz Orchestra Intensive — a dynamic program designed to expand your skills, deepen your understanding of jazz history and culture, and connect you with fellow young musicians from the area.

What to Expect:

  • Play in a full jazz ensemble with talented peers
  • Participate in masterclasses led by experienced jazz educators
  • Explore the rich history and cultural roots of jazz
  • Prepare and perform 8 exciting pieces
  • Showcase your talent in two public performances at the end of the intensive

Whether you’re looking to grow as a soloist, sharpen your ensemble skills, or simply immerse yourself in jazz, this is the summer experience for you!

Open To:  High School Students (including incoming freshman and graduating seniors) 
Days: Monday-Friday, 1 pm - 4 pm
Dates: June 16 - July 2
Concerts: Wednesday, July 2 @ 7 pm and Saturday, July 5 @ 6 pm (before Summer Breeze concert)
Where: Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts

Andrew Luzwick
Director, Youth Jazz Orchestra Intensive

Andrew Luzwick is a freelance musician based out of Chicago with a passion for various styles of music and performance.  

An avid multi-instrumentalist, in addition to piano, Andrew has also been trained in all the saxophones, clarinet, and flute. He has studied at The Chicago College of the Performing Arts at Roosevelt University under saxophonist and arranger Jim Gailloreto, as well as other Chicago jazz legends including Tom Garling, Henry Johnson, Scott Mason, and Paul Wertico. 

Most often, Andrew is seen music directing with various professional and amateur theatre groups. He is also the proud bandleader of the youngest and largest cover band in the Chicagoland area, The Dynamix- Ultimate Classics Cover Band.
